Join me for a 5 day yoga and hiking retreat in the heart of Snowdonia in Wales.

I am excited to welcome you to this beautiful house which has stunning views across the mountains. This is a real hygge feel retreat with some autumn/winter hikes to get energised from nature.

This retreat combines things I am extremely passionate about: yoga and being in the outdoors! Teamed with great hearty seasonal food and meditation, I think this is a winning combination for looking after your wellbeing and recharging batteries. I want to enable you to experience and fall in love with the mountains whether that is by gazing at them from the cosiness of the house or during one of the hikes during the retreat.

The house

The house is absolutely stunning and offers plenty of space for everyone. There are several chill out rooms in this house to find a quiet space or to connect with old or new friends. Perfect for you if you want some peace and quiet for yourself with the option of some socialising. All rooms bar one are en suite and spacious. The numbers are strictly limited to 9 on these retreats to allow plenty of space, a safe guided walk and individual support.

There are a lot of amazing details in the house and grounds like the handmade stained glass windows made by one of the owners of the house, large windows to gaze out from and cosy outdoor hut with a fire pit. I hope you can come and experience this yourself.

The house is set in acres of woodland and gardens with panoramic views of the Vale of Ffestiniog and the Moelwyn Mountain range. Even though it is in a secluded spot, it is not too complicated to get to and is easily accessible from the main road.

About the hiking

The hikes are led by a qualified mountaineering instructor, Rebecca, who also happens to be a good friend of mine. She will plan the routes for you in detail so you don’t have to worry about any of this. I will prepare a packed lunch and snacks for your hike. Three guided hikes are included during your stay with varying challenge so you can pick and choose to do all or some of the hikes. You do not have to be experienced mountaineer to take part – this could be your opportunity to explore something new and exciting and you will be in safe hands! The planned hikes are between 3-5 hours in length depending on pace and rest assured, nobody is left behind. I will discuss your individual requests prior to the retreat so Rebecca can plan the walks accordingly.

About the yoga

With over 25 yoga years behind me, I will guide you safely through some wonderful practices which are complimentary for your health and wellbeing in the season. The yoga practice will also support the hiking during the retreat with breath work, energising starts to the day and longer relaxing stretches after your days in the hills.

My yoga style is based on Hatha yoga and I will have the ancient roots of yoga at the core of my teaching. I have weaved together all the amazing things that have supported my overall wellbeing throughout my yoga years – these include qigong, yin yoga, meditation and pranayama practices. I call yoga my support system without which I wouldn’t function. It extends beyond the mat and so much beyond asana (postures).

About the food

Now we’re talking! Food is so important to me and I am looking forward to sharing some seasonal food with you during this retreat. The food will be mainly vegetarian, seasonal and as much as I can, local. As a minimum I am supporting small local businesses in purchasing all the ingredients from local shops or producers. I am also very often opting for organic produce. A typical breakfast will be continental style with homemade granola, yoghurts, variety of bread and boiled eggs for example. A typical lunch will be packed for you for your hike including fruit, snacks such as nuts, homemade granola bars and homemade soup. Finally a hearty dinner will be consisting of stews and other warming foods which are just what you might crave after a day in the hills. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the day. Oh and on Sunday I will share one of my favourite things: a special brunch!

Please state in your booking if you have any dietary requirements and/or allergies. I will try and cater for all diets.

Approximate timings during retreat

My aim is for you to have a relaxing and lovely time without the need to rush or a day packed full of activity. I will offer short one to one sessions for any of your specific questions too.

Please note, the timings are approximate and can change. Weather conditions might mean shorter hikes or alternative activities. It can also be that hikes take a bit longer than planned.

Wednesday

  • Arrivals from 15:00. Settle in your room and the new space after arrival.
  • Welcome and ease and release yoga 18:00-19:00
  • Dinner from 19:30

Thursday

  • Good morning yoga&qigong 8:00-9:00
  • Breakfast from 9:15
  • Guided hike (all levels) 10:30-15:30. Packed lunch during hike. Lunch at the house from 13:00 if you don’t take part in the hike
  • Yin&Yang Yoga 18:00-19:00
  • Dinner from 19:30

Friday

  • Good morning yoga&qigong 8:00-9:00
  • Breakfast from 9:15
  • Guided hike (more challenging) 10:30-15:30. Packed lunch during hike. Lunch at the house from 13:00 if you don’t take part in the hike. Alternative afternoon workshop for those who are not hiking.
  • Yin Yoga Friday chillout 18:00-19:00
  • Dinner from 19:30

Saturday

  • Good morning yoga&qigong 8:00-9:00
  • Breakfast from 9:15
  • Guided hike (all levels) 10:30-15:30. Packed lunch during hike. Lunch at the house from 13:00 if you don’t take part in the hike
  • Yin&Yang Yoga 18:00-19:00
  • Dinner from 19:30

Sunday

  • Brunch from 9:30-11:00 (have a super lie in and chill if you like)
  • Outdoor qigong and forest bathing in the house grounds 12:00-13:00
  • Chill out time, cake, reading and connecting
  • Optional short walks in the area (not guided)
  • Yin Yoga 18:00-19:00
  • Dinner from 19:30

Monday

  • Good morning yoga&qigong 8:00-9:00
  • Breakfast from 9:15
  • Closing meditation 11:00
  • Check out by 13:00

Price

  • En suite room with a view towards the woods £495 per person based on 2 sharing. There is one room available at this price with a view of the mountains but this room is not en suite – the bathroom is in the corridor and shared only with me.
  • En suite room with a view over the mountains: £525 per person based on 2 sharing
  • Single occupancy £25 per night – £125 for the whole retreat

Deposit of £100 is payable on booking, final balance is 60 days before retreat (payment plans available – please get in touch to discuss). Please see full terms and conditions.

If you are coming to the retreat as a couple, please get in touch for a discounted rate as I have some double rooms available.

What is included in the price

  • 5 nights stay in a beautiful country house in en suite rooms with plenty of space (shared rooms have either double or single beds)
  • All food: breakfast, lunch and dinner on 4 days (or brunch and cake on Sunday), dinner on arrival day and breakfast on departure day. Snacks, selection of teas and other refreshments available throughout the retreat
  • 2 yoga sessions per day plus extra one to one guidance during the retreat
  • All guided hikes with an experienced mountaineering instructor
  • Alternative workshop on Friday for those who are not hiking

What is not included

  • Travel to and from retreat. (Pick up and drop off available to and from Blaenau Ffestiniog train station on request, please get in touch to discuss this)
  • Travel insurance – I thoroughly recommend getting travel insurance
